Meet Felix!
Our greatest offering to date. Mini magazine cover car! "My vision was a 'gentleman racer' from the 1960/70's"
Having started life as a Mini 1000 in 1970 he presents some what different today. A no expense restoration was under taken by a classic mini specialist which included lots of new metal, floors, rear quarters, boot floor, inner & outer sills, rear end & valance, complete front end and more. The decision was taken before the shell was even sourced that a "Singer" style resto mod was the end game. With that said the period correct surf blue was chosen as the colour with a contrasting old english white roof. Re-chromed original bumpers, P700 halogen lights, Downton style mirrors, Aston fuel cap are some of the external upgrades along with the stunning original black rose petal alloys, these are of course wrapped in Yokohama Advan 165/70 032R tyres.
Internally Felix is taken to yet another level! Austin Healey bucket seats rebuilt, re-foamed and re-trimmed by JCS custom trim in vintage leather and harris tweed. Body coloured 6 point Safety Devices roll-cage with door, dash and bars. Newton Commercial carpets, custom-made harnesses with corvette sundial buckles and brown webbing. New headlining, door cards, rear seat, bins and parcel shelf trimmed in cream to match the carpets. GPS Smiths speedo and Smiths tacho in speedwell pod, Mota-Lita steering wheel, extended competition rear view mirror, OBP pedal box with OBP brake bias adjuster under the dash. DSN interior door furniture in black to match the work of art that is the CAE shifter. A custom mounted rear brake light and custom mounted rev counter on top of the crackle black steering column look stunning.
Under the bonnet is the insane beating heart, a Vauxhall X16XE 1.6 litre twin cam master piece. Fully rebuilt. Sitting on the famous Allspeed engineering subframe. Ultra-thin (30mm length) twin 42mm Jenvey DCOE throttle bodies, fuel rail and linkage mounted on a Danst Performance custom manifold. Black centre exhaust system, race spec fuel regulator, pump and filter. Alloy pot reservoirs and header tanks. Front mounted radiator, all engine components finished in crackle black. Custom wiring and mapping by Ian James, assorted DSN and Smithy's bits finished in black thoughout. Green painted block is a nod to the A series. This all results in a punchy 125 bhp! This is paired to a Vauxhall diesel 5 speed manual gearbox (rebuilt) and a CAE H-shifter. Fully adjustable suspension all round takes care of the handling requirements. Upgraded brakes are the famous Cooper S setup. Rear Minifin drums with braided hoses throughout.
The invoices and build sheet for this is close to £45,000 and that doesn't include the buying of the original Mini. The best Mini I've ever seen, looks amazing, goes like a rocket and is extremely comfortable. This is a work of art!
