Meet Ralph our bonkers 1340cc MED race engined fast road track Mini. This thing is next level fast ????

Having started life on the 29.8.1990 as a Rover Mini Thirty its safe to say there has been some changes! He’s spent the last 19 years with the same owner who worked in F1 and this was his passion project. The history file & receipts folders are something else.

Ralph in this time has a ground up rebuild and is perfect, there is not a mm of rush on him, he’s been dry and heated garaged stored and NEVER been outside until the day I collected him. Of course is rained ????

The spec on this Mini is like nothing else. He came into my hands in March of this year needing to be set up, he has now been rolling road set up making the insane figures below and is just about to have his suspension done also.

Let’s get into the engine spec, He’s a 1340 MED full race engine. Block was rebored +60, skimmed 11 stud head (ARP Bolts) all new Centre main strap, oil gallery plugs, core plugs, gaskets, seals, bolts etc. A 286 Piper Cam, Alloy centred V adjustable timing gear, new oil pump, MED crank reground tuftrieded cross drilled and mains wedges, bladed lightened and full bottom end balance rods MED fully worked ARP bolts,Pistons are Omega +60. The Head id MED road competition with 1.5.1 roller rockers with ARP stainless bolts. The flywheel assembly ultra light billet flywheel, ultra light billet back plate, Orange racing clutch plate all balanced new bolts, locks, tabs etc. This all mated to a MED straight cut roller drop gears MED fully refurbished close cut ratio gearbox with cross pin diff! Od course he has a KAD quick shift also. Paired to a Weber 45 DCOE carburettor it sounds crazy. The fuel system is all braided and race spec, fuel pressure regulator and all the ancillaries are the highest grade. After some fantastic work carried out on the rolling road by the best in the business Peter Burgess the Mini made 118.66 HP at 6520RPM with 114.57IBFT at 4685RPM, he made over 120hp but wasn’t as happy so was dialled back to the best all round run. He revs all the way to 7250RPM with ease ???? This Mini is the fastest Mini I’ve ever been in. The engine has done around 500 miles so run in nicely. the Carbon fan blade needs a special mention. The engine and gearbox alone cost around £7,000.

Running gear and brakes is all the best as expected, adjustable everything rear anti rollbar, grooved and vented discs, 4 pot callipers with superfins at the rear, all braided hoses. 10 inch Mamba wheels with the stickiest of Yoko Advan tyres. Everything is brand new on this Mini.

As mentioned the body has had a full ground up rebuild which consists of all new genuine panels and painted in met black with a cream roof to match the wheels. A full process of lightning has taken place and the shell has had every bit of unwanted metal removed and also has a full 6 point roll cage fitted. perspex windows add to the weight saving. Ive not yet has this weighted but suspect it to be around 500kgs so very light indeed. Of course you will have spotted the removable Carbon fibre Bonnet, Boot, bumpers  & arches.

Internally the race car vibe continues with a detachable Momo steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara, two Cobra full FIA approved seats twinned with 4 point TRS harnesses and 6 point roll cage of course all red and black. The weight saving also continues with carbon fibre door cards, dashboard and passenger foot rest. Digital instrument cluster gives you all the important data in a stunning way. the starting procedure is not unlike a fighter jet. All the switch gear is upgraded and feel very nice indeed. There are no carpets and the floors are finished to the same high standard as the external paint. Ralph is as perfect inside and underneath as on top. He even has a sun roof.

Ralph is probably the best sounding classic Mini I’ve ever heard. Pulls like a train and corners like he’s on rails. The receipts I have looked at so far are way over £30,000 for this build. He just needs to be used, taken to his full potential on a track and destroy a few supercars on our great British B roads ????

As always I will draw this on sellout if before the competition ends.

1st Prize = Ralph

2nd Prize = £500 MiniSport vouchers (or cash) on sellout.

3rd Prize = £250 MiniSport vouchers (or cash) ob sellout.
