Meet Mr Red.
This is our best Mini to date, he is better than the day he left the factory after a total restoration by the best in the business, Altered Images, who if you know the mini world are the best paint and coach-works outfit in the UK and used by all the top Mini racers and restorers worldwide. Over £7000 on the body work alone. This car has come to me via a mini racer.
Finished in the perfect shade of red with contrasting white roof and door circles, the resto mod theme was chosen from the very beginning, so a MKI bonnet, MKI grill and bumpers with overriders were a must, all capped off with chrome arch trim. 10 inch wheels (wrapped in Yoko A008 tyres) and supporting conversion kit has also been added. P700 headlights, clear lens indicators, chrome bullet mirrors and chrome accessories raise this mini above most others. Spot the pressed steel plates also. The paint on this Mini is outstanding!
Moving onto the inside you get all the pro's of a modern mini, an outstanding original Cooper interior in black with matching door cards with cream piping, cream seat belts and black carpets. DSN door furniture, original Cooper wooden dash that houses all the usual info, speedo, revs, fuel and temperature gauges along with the 3 extra clocks, volts & oil temp. Pay special attention to the Caliber retro stereo with bluetooth, USB and DAB. Smoked sun-visors are a nice addition.
Under the bonnet you get the reliability of the 1275 MPI engine, these have more enough punch for anyone and Mr Red flys. I suspect he's had some upgrades but I'm yet to read all the paper work to confirm this (theres a huge file). He's had a full gearbox rebuild by Guess Works. It's got a great sounding exhaust. Upgraded 4 pot alloy callipers with discs & pads take care of all your stopping requirements. Since being with me, as with all the competition minis, it has been to my specialist and we decided to replace the starter motor and add an upgraded 65amp alternator. Hi-los, adjustable shocks, tie bars take care of all the handling. Just had a fresh MOT completed.
In summary this Mini is sensational, so good that I've been using it for the last 2 weeks whilst the weathers been dry. The best to date body wise we've done. The resto mod vibe is just cool. You are getting the best of both worlds with Mr Red!
