Meet Dudley,
He started life as an Austin Mini Mayfair 998 in 1987. Today he is far from that. He's just been through a comprehensive restoration that was undertaken by Torbay Minis. He has a file full of invoices totalling an eye watering amount of money, also included is a photographic file showing it at each stage. After being rid of any rot which included total new boot floor, rear arches, rear valance, front end, A panels, reskinned doors and much more new metal, the decision was taken to have him painted in dusty grey with matching arches and a contrasting off white roof, this is a total bare metal paint job inside and out.
As with all restorations you then cant put old parts back on so the contrasting colour of traffic red was chosen for the new subframes, callipers and a few of the other brand new items on the underside.
A BRAND new 1275cc has been completely reground, re bored then built up with an MED ST1 Cam kit, a stage one conversion with a sonic cleaned 44 carb and all brand new parts. Has a wonderful sound (watch the video until the end) This has now done just under 1000 miles. Having this extra performance meant the brakes and suspension had to match, so GAZ adjustable dampers have been added, also adjustable tie bars, lower arms, bushes & High lo's. This is a wonderful handling Mini with a great punch from this spicy engine. 12 inch Ultralite alloys wrapped in Yoko A359 makes for the perfect contact with the tarmac. Of course all the chrome you'd except on the outside making a special mention of the bumpers with overriders.
Internally you'll spot lots of one-off touches, centre speedo with the important oil temperature & pressure gauges, steering column mounted rev counter, custom switch panel that is a work of art and controls the lights, spot lights, hazards, extra fan, interior foot well & rear bin lights, heated rear screen & one other thing that I've forgotten. The leather clad Mountney steering wheel, one-off door furniture & door cards. This is all complemented but the stunning front and rear seats with the matching red of the underside & Engine bay. All finished off with a rear roll cage and black roof lining. There are no carpets just mats (I prefer this) the owner hadn't fitted a new carpet as it's never been out in the rain and he hadn't tested all the grommets.
To sum up this is one of the best we've offered to date. Great odds with a maximum of 1000 tickets.
