Meet Bernard.
Built to be the best of all worlds.
A 1979 Mini that was fully restored a number of years ago by a well known Mini specialists for a prominent figure in the Mini 7 race series, this included lots of new panels, metal work and then several coats of stunning Tartan red paint. No expense was spared and it presents wonderfully today. A contrasting black roof and group 2 arches where chosen for the Cooper look. A MKI bonnet, grill etc, MKII rear lights, green tinted glass, Cooper S twin fuel caps, Lucas reverse light and all stainless accessories look awesome. Of course he sits on a set of 10 inch Minilights that are wrapped in Yoko A008 rubber. Spot the rare Mini7 front badge and leather bonnet strap.
Bernards beating heart is a stunningly built 1275cc engine pushing out an impressive 73 bhp with 80 ibft, this is paired to a Weber carb & Maniflow centre exhaust that sounds fantastic! He goes like a rocket. All new fuel lines, fuel pump, filter & of course spot the twin tanks! Cooper S brakes all round with braided hoses, copper brake lines front to back take care of all your stopping requirements. The level of care has been lavished on the suspension including Mini 7 competition/fast road Protech shocks (set to soft at current) KAD adjustable/negative camber brackets front and rear, Hi-Los all round that are lowered by 20mm from standard and all poly bushed. He's glued to the roads. He's only travelled 1990 miles since completion.
Internally is what can only be described as the perfect Mini interior! Cooper S MKIII 130 mph clock and dash. Period look bucket seats with matching black door cards, black leather Moto-Lita steering wheel, black door furniture and red carpets just look perfect. The binnicle housing displays your speed & fuel with the addition of oil pressure & temp gauges. To be noted is the custom switch panel that controls the fuel pump, heated front screen (yes you read that correctly) and rear fog lamp. Chrome dash vents and ash tray plus the alloy gear knob finish it off perfectly. Simplicity is key here!
The perfect Mini in my opinion. A revy 1275 that sounds epic, handles like its on rails and looks awesome. What else could you want for.
